Previous update 08/06/2020

To our valued patients,

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health .

We are extremely grateful for your support and understanding during these difficult times. As you may know the government has advised all dental practices in England that they can start to reopen following the Covid 19 lockdown. Our dentists have been available for telephone advice during the mandatory closure and we have valued your conversations and patience.

Our immediate priority is the safety and well -being of our patients and team. In line with this we will re-open when we are satisfied that all the necessary procedures and protective equipment is in place. We are also currently undertaking a programme of team training to ensure everything is ready.

Our plan is to open in a phased manner, prioritising appointments in line with the guidance from the Chief dental officer and Faculty of General Dental Practitioners. Initially this be for those in pain and those who have been waiting for urgent care. To comply with these new guidelines there will be changes to our practice and how we see patients. These guidelines are still developing as new research finding are learned about Covid-19 worldwide. We will keep up to date with these, make changes and review our policies appropriately.

The current recommendation is for dental practices to treat urgent cases only until the threat level has been reduced by the clinical authorities, then as the threat level reduces,  we can provide an increasing range of treatments; to patients who have outstanding treatments and patients who were due for regular appointments during the lockdown period.

Our appointment times and durations will change as we follow the guidelines on distancing, disinfection and personal protective equipment which keep both our team and patients safe. We will contact you before each appointment for screening, and to answer any pre-appointment questions you may have.

Please be assured that your oral health and safety are our priority,  and when guidelines allow, we will invite you back into our practice to carry out your oral health examinations ensuring you are receiving the best care we can provide. Where required, we will be changing our opening hours to make sure that no-one is waiting longer than necessary for their appointments, and we request that you support us during this period as best you can. This will allow us to normalise our service as much as is possible for everyone’s benefit and safety in these unusual times.

In the meantime, please do everything you can to keep yourselves and those around you safe and avoid any unnecessary risks. We are looking forward to seeing you again soon and don’t forget, if you have any questions, please contact us.

Best Wishes,
